Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We also store your chosen username.
Uploaded content: Study materials you upload are processed to extract text for question generation. Raw uploaded files are processed in your browser and are not stored on our servers. Extracted text may be temporarily held in memory during generation.
Generated content: Questions, answers, and flashcards generated for you are stored in our database linked to your account.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We receive transaction confirmations including amount and payment ID.
Usage data: We store credit transactions, generation history, and feature usage for service operation and improvement.
We use your information to: (a) provide and operate the Service; (b) process payments and manage credits; (c) generate questions from your uploaded materials; (d) enable social features (friends, shared sessions); (e) send important service notifications; (f) prevent abuse and enforce our terms.
Anthropic (Claude AI): Your uploaded text content is sent to Anthropic's API for question generation. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy and API terms. We send extracted text, not raw files.
Stripe: Payment processing is handled by Stripe Inc. Your payment information is subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
Google: Authentication is handled by Google OAuth. We receive only basic profile information.
Data is stored on Render.com servers in the United States. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transmission. Database access is restricted to authorized services only. While we implement reasonable security measures, no system is 100% secure.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with: (a) service providers necessary to operate the Service (Anthropic, Stripe, Render); (b) as required by law or legal process; (c) other users only through features you explicitly use (friends list shows your username, shared sessions show participant names).
You may: (a) access your account data through the Settings page; (b) update your username and profile information; (c) request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us; (d) export your flashcards at any time. For California residents: we do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.
We use browser local storage to persist your question progress, flashcards, and preferences. Authentication uses secure HTTP-only cookies managed by NextAuth. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics.
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Generated questions and flashcards are retained until you delete them or your account. Payment transaction records are retained for legal and accounting purposes. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days.
We may update this policy periodically. Changes take effect upon posting. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
